Few details here cover how you could connect and establish successful SMPP connection

A) Connection – To get connected yourself in an easy way you need an to have an account or you could signup with the shreeweb for an SMPP Connection.

B) SMPP System – You could develop smpp system within your legacy systems which is developed in ASP, ASP.Net, VB.Net, PHP, Perl, C++, C or Java or you could buy an cheap Bulk SMS Gateway from shreeweb to get connected via SMPP also there may be a lot more smpp gateways available in market if you search you will find a lot.

c) LogIn – Once you are ready with your smpp system and connection setup with the provider you could use your credentials provided by your service provider to login using SMPP system from your legacy systems or through some standalone applications.

Thomas there is no way to establish smpp connection using smtp server both are different protocols and do not communicate directly but you could use one of our Bulk SMS SMTP API to setup direct smtp connection from your server.

you could get an smpp api developed in .net from here http://easysmpp.sourceforge.net/ and later on you could develop it as per your business requirement to connect different providers using smpp connection.
